BEIGE IS NOT A COLOR

SO LIVE YOUR LIFE IN LIVING COLOR

I came across a big sofa style book by Carlos Mota, former style editor for Architectural Digest and editor at large for Elle Decor.  The pictures of colorful interiors in that book are amazing, and not just for the fabulous furnishings and grand decor but for the unabashed over-the-top all out celebration of color.  Color is the greatest mood influencer (after wine) creating or evoking intimacy or aloofness, warmth or coldness, coziness or formality.  Colors have their own personalities!  Orange, for example.  People seem to either hate or love orange, a color that screams HEY, LOOK AT ME!  Do you dream in color?  Try it!  I remember a few years ago when ivory and eggshell along with other gradient shades of white became the default palate of the snobbiest decorators.  Ugh.  If you ask me, the lack of color in someone’s home reveals a lack of imagination if not the total absence of personal courage.  I recently visited a bachelor who lives in a nice big beautiful house filled with BEIGE everything.  Need I say that the conversation was pretty beige also?  Color is the purest form of art.  Be an artist in everything you do.  Fly your freak flag.  Live in orange, sleep in blue & love in red.
